It's not the end

Some say its fate, but I’ll say its life. Life is not fair. Not to you, not to me, not to all of us.

Some say its wrong timing, but I’ll say its wrong decision making. Don’t take your chances next time. Obey the rule as much as you can. I am reminding myself too.

Some say its bad luck, but I’ll say it’s not your time. Start all over again and improve yourself as you go.

Some say its you, but I’ll say it’s every one of us. We inspire others and they can inspire us too; in a good or bad way.

Don’t listen to what people say. It’s now or never. I'll stand by your side. It’s not my choice, it’s my responsibility.

I'MNOSUPERMAN: Just be strong baby. We'll do this together.

In three months time

It was the afternoon of June 2nd when I decided to quit my job. After six years in the same spot, I think I had enough. And so I started to look around for new job opportunities. I know I can never look back anymore. Thankfully I managed to secure some job interviews but the most promising one was that of the Tradewinds Plantation.

Perhaps it was my sheer luck or it was my determination to desperately seek for a new horizon, I succeeded the interview. I am one out of three other hopefuls that are chosen for the post. In the next three months time, I’ll be in a new place, in a new teritory, in a new environment, in Gua Musang Kelantan

I’MNOSUPERMAN: I am so looking forward for the change.

The curious case of Yasmin Ahmad

Let me begin with a little prayer to our beloved and amazing storyteller; the late 51 years young Yasmin Ahmad. Al-Fatihah...

I'm sure we all know what's cooking in the pot of our Malaysian journalism at the moment. Nasty words are spreading far and wide as one journalist decided to play God by revealing stuff that he shouldn't be revealing, not while the whole nation is still deep in their sorrows after Yasmin's sudden depart last Sunday; July 25th 2009.

What could possibly have gone wrong? Why the sudden revelation? No one knows except for the irresponsible and insensitive Kosmo!'s Mohd Zaini Samsuhadi in his recent report titled "Daripada Striker Bola ke Pengarah Tersohor."

This is the time that he should praise her for all the things that she has contributed to our country. Not the other way round. This is the time that we should see what she saw in our pathetic life, in our so called BOLEHland, where Malay should always speaks Malay and Chinese should always speaks Chinese. She has inspired us despite all the ill tempers thrown at her by creating masterpieces that we should not only watch, but to admire. We wise Malaysians love Yasmin and they should respect that!

"I am optimistic and sentimental to the point of being annoying, especially to those who think being cynical and cold is cool. Everyday I thank Allah for the ability to breath, to love and to laugh." Yasmin Ahmad, August 2004.

I'MNOSUPERMAN: My compass does not always point north. But when I said it's wrong, it is wrong...

The year is 2069. Cars will run on love and joy instead of petrol. No grumpy moron can drive a car and car accident will be the thing in the past. Our drumsticks will be fried in plain water and a box of Dunkin Donut will be 90% cheaper. A ticket to a movie will cost nothing and Cd will definitely be happy.

Flying will be more fun and less scary as the airplane will fly closer to ground. Cabin crews will be as funny as Pam Ann and flight decks are open for public visits. I can have the jump seat and see how pilot work.

Fun clubs and eateries will be operating till 5am and no policeman can come and arrogate. No Pocong will be caught in camera and we don’t have to do laundries anymore. No one will go to Facebook and if you do, everyone will look straight into your eyes and say, “That is so 2009!!!”

Aliens will visit our planet and make the following announcement, “Pineapple was never meant to be eaten.”

I’MNOSUPERMAN: Wubba dub my rub tub. Rat-a-tat-tat chicken fat splat! I can see the future…

I'MNOSUPERMAN: MapKing banyak membantu. Tapi aku ni slow sikit dalam bab-bab baca peta ni...

I was in KL last Thursday to attend an interview with yet another big name in our plantation industry; The Tradewinds. My boss was not eager to let me go for the interview but he quickly changed his mind after I handed him my resignation letter. “You can go for the interview Hidney, but I’m not buying this letter. I’m keeping it and hopefully you will change your mind.”

Hmmm… A.N.Y.W.A.Y.S.

I’ve been attending several job interviews during the past 6 years of my career life. But as far as I can remember, my first would be the most interesting one. I was 21 and wearing a blue grey number for the post of Management Trainee with my previous company; Golden Hope Plantation. I was told to look up for ‘soalan temuduga bocor’ in the internet so that I can perform well in the interview. And so I did. God bless Google!

After a few minutes in the interview, one of the panels asked me, “You came alone from your hometown?”

“No sir. I came with my dad.” said I.

“I see. Could you please call him in? I wish to have a word or two with him.”

My dad was caught off guard you see. And to my surprise, he came in with a name tag on his shirt. I know my dad well… he was nervous and I like to see him when he's nervous hehehe.

I waited anxiously in a different room, killing my time by filing a piece of paper with my details.

“They are very nice you know,” said my dad when he finally emerged from the interview room a few minutes later. “You better do your best. I've played with their balls a bit in there. I think you’ll get the job.”

A few days later, a thick envelope came and I was officially a Golden Hopeans. Thrilled. My dad rocks!!!

I’MNOSUPERMAN: I know I did well last Thursday even without my dad’s help. I hope I’ll secure the job. Adik dah penat la dengan keje sekarang ni kakak!
