FINALLY, I got my car back yesterday. Notice the capitalized 'finally'? It’s been 113 days since I last drove my car. I had a road accident last May 10th (stupid stupid stupid) and I’ve been ‘tempang’ since then. Not that my leg is tempang whatsoever, but I can’t commute without the mercy of my staffs (6 of them) who liberally lend me their cars, in turns. But too much of asking is ignominious. So I rather stay in the estate and count sheep, missing all my golf tournaments and what not.

These car-borrowing-episodes seem to tarnish my relationship with my neighbour. I borrowed his car a few times and he played duck by skulking in my shadows eversince. That annoys me. "Matilah matilah… Mesti dia nak pinjam kereta aku ni. Segera bertukar menjadi tikus... BLING!!!”

C’mon… is that necessary?

But he can sleep in pure serenity now cos I'm not gonna borrow anyone's car anymore, especially his.

I’MNOSUPERMAN: Why am I writing this? Whose reading it anyway?

A family day, a wedding and a few sushis

Last August 17th, I was in Ranchan Recreational Park, Serian to attend a family day organized by the student of Diploma in Planting Industry and Management (DPIM), UiTMCS. I was DPIM’s student once and it’s good to come back to meet with my previous lecturers and off course to mingle with a bigger family of students. I was quite surprise to see how things have changed. I hope I was missed…

The next day, Syuk, Jahar and I went to our ex-classmate’s wedding in Matang; Hasnan. I never met him since graduation day. I must say, he never changed a bit. But I strongly believe he’ll change his pants size after this. His wife is one hell of a gooooooood cook. Hahaha…

I love sushi… I do. And there is no better way to end the trip than feeding two of my favourite friends with my favourite dish. It’s almost entertaining to see them eat.
I'MNOSUPERMAN: I created this DPIM's logo and they still use it. I'm very proud lah!!! It's my legacy...

The journey of my life, starts today

It’s been a while now since my last vacation. Long leave seems to be very ‘expensive’ for me and I have to admit that sometime I have to create excuses just to get my leave approved. I’m sure everyone of us did that at least once in our career life isn’t it? Today it’s all going to repeat itself. I’m going to vacate my head and enjoy the trip that I’ve been planning for quite sometime already. But I don’t have to create any excuses this time; cos I don’t have to…

Bangkok here I come!!!

I'MNOSUPERMAN: I always wanted to fly Thai Airways cos I heard it's as smooth as silk.

Of me, Syuk and Jahar

Today I'll be in Kuching, meeting with two of my best friend; Syuk and Jahar. The last time I met them was like 2 months ago during my little brother’s wedding. Both are such a dear friend to me. We were in the same faculty during our study in UiTM Kota Samarahan (HIDUP UiTMCS!!!). I miss both of them so much...

Syuk or better known as ‘lelaki lindungan kaabah’ among his other friends is more than just a friend to me. He is my constructor and my wrecker at the same time. He use to be a planter once and now he’s a lecturer. I’m sure that tittle is suitable enough for him. He can be bitchy sometime and I’ve seen that, lots of time. I’ve seen him mocking and cursing his Trainee Assistant when he was in Sahua Estate. Well I think that Trainee Assistant deserved it as he was a total jerk and ungrateful for what Syuk have done for him. And that Trainee Assistant is now an Assistant manager, my neighbour, my gym partner and my friend. Great huh?

Syuk was not that fond of me when we first met. He was not mocking me, but I just knew that he did not adore me. You know what happen to all freshmen during their early university life right? Fresh college men are situated on the lowest possible level of the food chain in the university and they are ‘free’ to be twiddled as please by the seniors. This was when things twisted with me and Syuk. I was summoned for yet another harassment episode by one of the most feared senior and that was when I met Syuk; already shuddered in creeps, sitting statically in one corner of the room. I’m not planning to explain in detail on what had happened that day but Syuk and I became friend ever since.

Jahar on the other hand is my guru for basically everything. He thought me how to dress properly, how to address people, how to walk, how to talk, how to dance and even how to breathe. He doesn’t have that Brad Pitt DNA code in him but he is one adorable person. We share everything, except for underwear and we both had a good time with it. I always thought that he was this tough and never-will-cry type until he lost his brother in an accident sometime in January this year. That was the first I saw him cracked and cried and I was happy to be there when he needed me the most.

He can definitely dance and he was one of the many dancers for UiTMCS. Do I have to tell you this, but I was one of them too (ouchh!!!). There was one time when we were representing our college and we were doing zapin.

“Hidney, tolong ikatkan kain songket aku tok. Kedak longgar jak koh. Mati terlondeh time menari kelak.” He said to me when we were in the changing room. We were in a hurry and I was struggling with my kain songket too.

“Penari zapin cepat keluar. It’s your turn now. Cepat cepat cepat!!!” … and his kain was not properly tied. We were running hastily towards the stage and he looked at me before taking his position, rolled his eyes as if he wanted to say “I’m screwed!”

I was behind him all the time and I saw the kain slowly ‘untie’ itself. The moment of truth came and that kain finally decided to fall, thus reveling what’s underneath it. The crowd when electric but Jahar maintained his calm, dancing and smiling as if nothing happened. And we won the competition…

Today I’m going to spent time with both of them, exchanging jokes and stories like we use to do.
I'MNOSUPERMAN: Dear God, please don’t take them away from me…

What it has been so far

“Aiyooo so long time no online one? How come? So buzy meh? So many briefing to do ah? Better be a fireman lah if like that. But first you must eat. So skinny one. Cannot lift the water hose. Everyone will sure die one!”

Well here I am now, poking my brain for some new ideas. So many things happened yet so little time to tell. To make my life easier and yours too, allow me to summarize everything in this one entry. Here goes…

I love my SLR. And it’ll go everywhere I went. Even while doing my day-to-day site inspections. Some of my workers will avoid me as they are camera shy (so to speak), but some will burst in supreme joy as they smile and give me their fiercest pose. “Tuan nanti bila siap fotonya? Mau kirim sama cewek di kampung…”

One day… “Hidney our GM requested you to attend the Tun’s visit. Bring along your SLR. You’ll be the photographer.”

And in another occasion… “There’ll be a dinner in Miri next month. Be there because you’ll be needed. Bring your SLR too.” Let me guess… I’ll be the photographer? People started to notice me. And suddenly I’m needed everywhere. Should I charge them accordingly? Well…

But I’m not going to attend it anyway. I’ll have some other plan instead. Bangkok… here I come! I can now imagine myself screaming like a girl in Siam Paragon or breathing laboriously for clean air while riding a tuk tuk… You can expect an entry about that soon. "Of me, Siam and tuk tuk."

“What? You have to come to that dinner. Otherwise you’ll have to produce a letter to GM.” Blah, it’s just a dinner where everyone should dress in red or at least some reds and I should write a letter for not attending it? Consider done!

Safety and fire drill… I have been doing a lot of that for a while now. Much of my time spent on doing presentations and demonstrations. What to do when the fire breaks and stuff. Thanks to the internet though. The information that I needed are just a click away.

My manager use to ask me once “Is your dad a fireman? You seem to know a lot about everything.” There's a thing called the INTERNET you moron. You can find everything you can imagine in it and it's not just porn. Jeeees!

I wish my dad was PM though…

I have received a letter from the Head Office the other day saying “Moving ahead in integrity.” So I’ve suggested that all of our management team and workers in Damai Estate should have a name tag. My manager seems to agree with me. Since that I’m the one who came up with that idea; I’ll be the one who’ll produce it. Good eih? Well that just how things work around here. DON’T SAY A THING IF YOU CAN’T DO IT! Period…

So I did. I even plagiarise a Malaysia Airport name card and someone was not that happy about it. You know who you are darling. A few late night later, I was done. Everyone was so happy to see the results and my manager started to flaunt it to every meeting he went. "Look look look... I got a name tag... I got a name tag..."

Until one fine day, our Senior Upstream Manager said “Stop wearing that tag. It’s a violation of our logo. Use a standard design instead.” I felt like I’ve been doing something useless and wasting much of my time. At least I’ve initiated something that is good. And now he said that I’m violating our company's logo. Urggh thankless!!!

He: So you’re the one who created the tag? Good but not that good. Do it all over again. But do it correctly this time.

Me: Send it to kedai lah sir. They’ll know what to do and they’ll do it correctly. Let me do my thing. It’s not in my job description to do tags anyway. I am a planter.

Finally yesterday… “In the interest of culturing the safety among our workers, we should create a safety slogan.” Said my manager. “But it should be in Bahasa Melayu.”

Instantly, Cairil raised his hand and said, “Tingkatkan produktiviti. Tapi jangan mati.” Everyone burst in their laughter. But I’ll say it’s a good one though.

I'MNOSUPERMAN: Kalau dah ajal, nak buat lagu mana?

I'm the bidan terjun

“RM800 per session? That’s insanely expensive! Hidney you do the talk and the demonstration. You’ve done it before. Ask whatever you want. But not RM800.”

Yet again I’m the bidan terjun.

I’MNOSUPERMAN: If anything happen, don’t blame me. I’m just a bidan terjun who enjoys giving talks…

How I really wish...

"Good morning ladies and gentleman, this is your captain speaking."
To fly to soar to rise above the trees,
To float to glide to be within the breeze,
To duck and dodge to fly amongst the clouds,
To rise to wing above the crowds so loud,
To feel to be the one who flies the flight,
To lift and swoop to take in such delight,
To think to learn to have in my own hand,
To know the skill it takes to fly above the land...?
"Thank you for flying with us. We hope to see you again onboard soon."
I'MNOSUPERMAN: How in that airplane I wish I could fly, how in that airplane I wish I could touch the sky...
