Of Melaka and Genting

“You’ll see a small plane flying over the city when we get there. I use to fly that.”

Tak sah kunjungan ke Melaka kalau tak melawat kota A’Famosanya. Hmm… I thought it was bigger though. Satu lagi kes cliché like the one of the National Monument (bukan Kak Memon yer). Picture can be very deceiving.

Peluh mula menitik dek kehangatan hari, tapi penjelajahan perlu diteruskan. Destinasi seterusnya ialah tinggalan gereja lama di puncak bukit St. Paul, Christ Chruch dan Stadhuys building. You can never miss that brightly red colored building complex from afar. Teruja aku melihat deretan beca yang sarat dengan bunga-bungaan bewarna cerah. Yang mana hendak dikagumi dulu? The beca or the bunga? Or shall I say the state of the art sound system installed in the beca? I think they should play the visit Malaysia tunes instead of Hurry Up by Che’nelle.

Its claim to be the latest tourist attraction in Melaka; the Taming Sari, the revolving-observation-you-can-never-be-wrong-of-it’s-size tower. Pengalaman 7 minit di ketinggian 110 meter memang berbaloi dengan harga tiket yang dikenakan, provided that you are not height-freaks. Owh you can buy the portable 4 x 4 x 5 feet gazebo displayed at the tourist center just beside the tower. You can put it in your living room if you want to.

Did I mention about the Baba Nyonya’s asam pedas? Definitely a must try if you asked. And where to have it? If you answered at of the many authentic peranakan houses along the Jonker Street, then give yourself a well deserve 10 points, which I don’t quite have the chance to experience it myself. “Sorry we are close now. And no picture allowed,” said one lady dibalik pagar besi yang lengkap dengan kebaya nyonya nya. Mungkin di peluang lain, I have to come back…

“Jom ke Genting plak,” ajak Khairil. Satu perlawaan yang teramat bodoh untuk aku tolak. Menyeluk perkasam biar sampai ke pangkal lengan, aku dan Khairil terus saja ke kota lain yang sarat dengan keriangannya itu.

It was one trip that I shall never forget for the rest of my life. And for that I shall forever be thankful to Khairil. I really enjoyed the company. Where to next? Destination unknown…

Best waffle ever; well literally...

Yes... you are reading to the right blog. It's weird cause I don’t cook that much, but hey it’s ok for some changes right? Faham tak? Enjoy…

1 and 3/4 cups flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 Tablespoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

3 beaten egg yolks

1 and 3/4 cups milk

1/2 cup vegetable oil

3 egg whites - beaten stiffly

Mix all dry ingredients. Combine yolks and milk. Stir into dry ingredients. Stir in oil and mix. GENTLY fold in beaten egg whites, do not over mix as you might loose all the air in the egg whites. Pour about 1/2 cup at a time into waffle iron. The next minute, it’s ready for serving. Slap in some peanut butter, Hershey’s choc syrup or the good old maple syrup, you are good to go. So light and so yummy!

P/s: Results may vary…

Why do they have to drive like they’ve just passed their driving test?

Why do they have to align their car too far for them to reach that parking coupon machine and have to reverse and start it all over again?

Why do they have to walk like it’s a carnival in a crowded place?

Why do they have to stand on the right side of the escalator when they are not in a hurry?

Why do they have to think too much of choosing between free fat milk and low fat milk?

Why do they have to chat in the middle of everyone’s way?

Why do they have to let their 7 years old son and daughter running around like no body’s business in a noodle section where all you can see is Mawi?

Why do they have to be so stupid when I asked them a simple “what’s this” question?

Why does it take them forever to key in that product’s code?

Why do they have to count the balance thrice when they know that it’s just RM3.58?

Why do they have to be so slow? God damn it!!!

The Ngiling Bidai; Segulai sejalai

Ngiling Bidai which can be loosely translated as menggulung tikar is a ceremony celebrated by the Iban comunity in Sarawak to mark the closing of Gawai Dayak celebration. Here are some of my favourite shoots for the ceremony which was held yesterday in our very own Austral Golf Club in Rajawali Estate.

What I did here

Being the jack of all trades, these are some of my responsibilities in the estate.

Accounts – Love to hate it, hate to love it. Go figure!

Budgets – The pain in my bottom.

Monthly reports – Thesis on the things that I did wrong for the whole month.

Weekly reports – Thesis on the things that I did wrong for the whole week.

Daily reports – Come again?

Store & warehouse – Tons of invoices to be endorsed.

General administrations – A good excuse to stay in the office and surf internet.

Upkeep & Cultivations – A good excuse to hide in the field from basically anything.

Vehicle & evacuations – Automatic or manual gear transmission?

Water & power – We have 3 Power Generators and 1 Water Treatment Plant here. As if you care?

Communications – Now what’s new in Facebook today?

Logistics – I’m busy. Take a taxi…

Crop quality – Arghhh they can never understand this!

Productions – More more more more!

Labour problems – They know where the exit is!

Contractor problems – Kiss my ass!

Staff problems – I can always print you another P&C if you want.

Visitors – Mind your behavior or I’ll feed you to the dogs!

Security – Don’t mention it. I just got one P&C on this matter. Shit!

Safety – Helmet anyone?

Health – I will attend to those who are gorgeous only. Ugly-is-not-allowed. Haha…

Government compliances – Who?

It was a glorious wedding

It was June 7th and the rain was merciful. The sun has decided to gleam again after hiding herself amongst the glum clouds, disseminating her excitable tepid lights for all to enjoy especially on that very day. My sister’s wedding day…

It was wonderful to see the whole family came in different shades of green. Everyone looks at their best with warm wishes to the bride and tralatitious pesky question for me, “when is your turn?” Maybe I should ask them the same question during the next funeral they attended. Wouldn’t that be fair?

My buddy Ethan on the other hand was not looking very well. He was pale. Poor thing... He was ‘forced’ to become the pengapit when no one wanted to be one. But he managed to pull himself together and managed to steal the lights along the way as everyone was asking about him. They can hardly miss that bright purple he was wearing among the greens.

The day ended well with lots of memory to treasure. These were mine…

The house that I live in

The famous Alley Mcbeal use to quote “I want to have a house and fill it with my favourite stuff. I want to be a man. A man that owns his own house and fill it with his favourite stuff.”

Now that I have a house to live in, well literally because it’s my company’s, I want to fill it with my favourite stuff and be a man…
